As yoga teachers, many of us understand the importance of regularly incorporating ideas of karma into our personal yoga practices and into the teaching to our students. Yet, it’s not uncommon to feel uncertain about how to do that effectively. How can one accurately capture the beauty of the karma yoga practices without seeming preachy or oversimplifying the richness of this ancient tradition? At Karma Krew, we are developing Karma Yoga Teacher Training programs to address that very question and more.

In the Karma Krew teacher training program, participants will learn:

• About the traditional roots of karma yoga as it was first introduced in yogic texts like the Bhagavad Gita and how this ancient practice is entirely relevant to today's world.
• How to recognize the difference between karma yoga and ordinary volunteering.
• How to identify and learn from the "shadow" side of service.
• How to utilize the paradox of service to enhance one's spiritual fulfillment.
• How to make karma yoga a personally sustainable practice and avoid burnout.
• How to start a grassroots karma yoga effort at home to encourage community building and responsible citizenship.
• How to re-think their definition of what it means to "practice yoga" in today's society.
• How engaging, nurturing, and fun karma yoga can be and discover its potency for dissolving our most challenging spiritual blockages.

On-going support will also be given to participating teachers in helping them begin Karma yoga initiatives of their own choice in their communities. Karma Krew currently offers a Karma Yoga module designed to dovetail onto broader teacher training programs.
