Akasha Project strives to empower underserved communities in New York by fostering physical, mental, and emotional well-being through the practice of yoga. By serving individuals who would not ordinarily have access, we work to expand the reach of yoga and inspire our participants to realize their own unique strength, beauty, and goodness. Through partnerships with local schools and resource centers, we provide weekly yoga classes for at-risk youth, seniors, survivors of violence and abuse, individuals recovering from addiction, and the homeless. For more information, please visit our website at www.akashaproject.org.

The organization was founded in New York City in 1998 as a project of the Tides Center, a foundation committed to supporting social change and innovation. The Lineage Project’s unique curriculum is based on relational and trauma theory and the research of Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School who demonstrated the positive impact of awareness-based practices on incarcerated populations.

Little Flower Yoga is a New York based organization providing yoga programs to schools and community organizations. Our classes are rooted in youth development principles and address children’s holistic wellness needs in a joy filled environment. Little Flower grew out of a desire to see all children embrace their potential. We strive to help children live their lives with joy, secure in the knowledge that the world holds great wonders for them, and that they have great gifts to share with the world.  Little Flower is currently partnering with Sanctuary for Families, a vital organization  in NY that provides shelter and support to survivors of domestic violence and sex trafficking. Women and children who have suffered abuse have often had their spirit battered along with their bodies, and rebuilding their sense of trust, self-worth and capacity for joy is a crucial component of their recovery. Sanctuary for Families serves thousands of women and children, and we would love to share yoga with all of them. Thank you for your support!        Mark Lilly founded Street Yoga in 2002 by organizing a handful of yoga teachers to teach yoga at a day shelter and a school serving homeless youth. Lilly says his life was deeply bettered by yoga. He started Street Yoga partly because of a song by Neil Young. And there's a line from that that goes: “We were giving, that's how we kept what we gave away. “To keep what yoga gave him, Mark Lilly said he had to give it away as fast and as much as possible. Street Yoga hired its first staff member this January 2008 and made the decision to grow from a volunteer fueled grassroots organization to a small non-profit with an active board, solid infrastructure, supported volunteers, comprehensive programming and ambitious development plan.
